14 Words Of Wisdom Your Daughter Needs To Hear
My sweet daughters, I have some advice for you.
Right now, you are so little, and you think I am the smartest person in the whole entire world. Soon, you will be starting school and learning so many new things. Then, eventually, if you are anything like any normal teenager, there will come the time of eye rolls, disagreements, and slamming doors – probably yours and mine.
Even now, when you are being tiny little tyrants having gigantic meltdowns because I cut your sandwiches into triangles instead of squares – because that’s basically the end of your world right now – I will always love you and be proud to be your mother.
It’s because I love you that I want to make sure that you hear these bits of advice that I have for you. I have had many more trips around the sun than you, and I hope you will heed my advice.
Never let anyone allow you to doubt your intelligence.
You can do anything you set your mind to.
Always remember how beautiful you are.
I know this harsh world will sink its talons into you and cause you to doubt your beauty. Don’t pick yourself apart in the mirror. For everything you don’t like about yourself, there are a million people who wish they had it.
Have thick skin.
Don’t worry too much about negative things said to you or about you. Their opinion doesn’t matter. Some people are unnecessarily cruel. Don’t let them bring you down.
Do not be afraid to love.
The love may not last a life time, but you will be better for it.
Be confident in the person you are.
Be different. Be silly. Be you. Don’t let your insecurities impede your path.
And know how much you are loved by others.
Get out of your comfort zone.
Explore your curiosities. Don’t look back and think “I wish I would have…”
Try not to be quick-tempered.
You will experience a happier life if you don’t waste your energy being angry.
Don’t hold grudges.
People change and grow. Don’t allow past experiences be the only way you see someone. Don’t forget what happened, but forgive them for it. Learn from their mistakes.
Know that I am always here for you.
I may not always agree with you, but I will always support your decisions and give you my best advice. I will always keep your secrets and be here to listen. I will never stop loving you.
Stay true to your values. Do what you know is right, and don’t let anyone pressure you into anything less.
Don’t let your feelings get hurt too easily.
As much as I wish I could prevent it, you will have your feelings hurt and your heart broken. Let the lessons you learn from those situations shape you in a positive way.
Surround yourself with positive people.
Positivity is contagious.
Remember how strong you are.
You will fall down. Get up and dust yourself off. Hold your chin up and learn from your experiences.
Your life is your journey. I can’t do it for you, and I can’t protect you from all of the evils of the world. But I can guide you and support you along the way. I always have, and I always will.
I know that you will teach me so many things along the way, too. I can’t wait.
